And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Fall Fixins

Yesterday after smelling the apple butter that was cooking in the crock pot all day, I decided I would stray from the menu and fix breakfast. I so love breakfast at night! I made biscuits to go with the apple butter. Oh my word..so GOOD!!! Today I canned it up. Pretty yummy stuff. The recipe is below try it. It's so easy!!!

CROCK POT APPLE BUTTER

Put 3 quarts of apples, sliced thin, in a crock pot and cook overnight on high. Next morning, add 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 3 cups sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cloves. Cook all day on low. Tastes like old-fashioned apple butter that is cooked in copper kettle.
You can use applesauce if you do not have time to prepare the apples. The crock pot makes it possible for apples to cook a long time without being stirred.

**A note from "the chick": You may want to taste as you add. I didn't add near the sugar because my apples were sweetened already (I used maybe 1/4 cup of sugar. I guess they have you add that much if your apples are really sour). If you use applesauce you may not want to add all that sugar. I added more cinnamon and cloves, but it's all what you like.
